FC Dallas signed Club America defender Duilio Davino to a two-year contract on Wednesday, a move team officials expect will shore up their defense and appeal to their Hispanic fan base. I just hope this turns out better then that last guy!

It has been wildly reported that Eddie Johnson of the K.C. Wizards is on his way to England. Word is he's headed over to Fulham however I can't see why. Now I know it's early but relegation looks almost certain in they're future. There's also a chance he makes it over to Derby County. Either way he he's looking to get crazy paid as there are estimates close to 2 million dollars.

I'm not suprised by who's on the list, just a little surprised about who's not. With little fanfare from around the league, Luciano Emilio had one of the best seasons in the history of the league. Here is a quick look at the best ‘Youngster's MLS Best XI…Not Named Jozy’;

Goalkeeper:
Chris Seitz (RSL) This outstanding 20-year old has great agility and quickness for his 6'4 frame

Defenders:

Michael Harrington (KC) He contended for Rookie of the Year honors in 2007 and can play as a wing-back or wide midfielder.
Aaron Hohlbein (KC) Another versatile player who plays is club ball with Kansas City who is also getting time with the Olympic team.
Patrick Ianni (HOU) The future is bright for this talented center-back. He’s very good in the air on set pieces and quite physical, the ideal defender for a big target forward.
Nathan Sturgis (RSL) Sturgis was acquired by Real Salt Lake along with F Robbie Findley in perhaps the worst trade in MLS history by Alexi Lalas and the LA Galaxy for veteran Chris Klein.

Midfielders:

Nico Colaluca (COL) Nico left the University of Virginia after his sophomore year to pursue a professional contract with MLS.
Eddie Gaven (CLB) – I had to include him on the list despite being a seasoned vet, he’s still only 21 years old.
Maurice Edu (TOR) The 2007 MLS Rookie of the Year is perhaps the most dangerous player on TFC.
Dax McCarty (DAL) Only 20 years old and already a key cog in the middle of the pitch for FC Dallas.

Forwards:

Yura Movsisyan (RSL) A former #4 overall pick who is a crafty attacker and has tallied many goals everywhere he has played.
Robbie Rogers (CLB) Another UMD product with tons of experience at the international youth levels who left after his freshman year for Dutch club Heerenveen.

MLS Involved In Talks With Liverpool FC, Germany's Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid

It has been rumored that MLS is in contact with these four club's to play against the '08 All Star's witch will be held in Toronto next year. At this point any one of these teams would be great game and with the way the fans come out at BMO Field in Toronto it's sure to be standing room only.

Commissioner Garber named 27th "Most Influential Person In Sports Business"

US Pitch-- A congratulations goes out to MLS Commissioner Don Garber for being named the 27th "most influential person in sports business". This comes on the heels what I consider the best year in MLS history. Now I know that most people will contribute this years success to the "David Beckham Experience", but think about it the new TV deals were negotiated before his arrival and everybody with a trust fund is almost clamoring to get in on the action to own a team. While I'm not naive to think that Beckham's influence hasn't given this league a shot in the arm, I do want to give Commissioner Garber credit for managing it. PREDICTION: Commissioner Garber will be in the top 10 within 3 years.

Capello "Capped" as Coach of England!

Not a National story but we love the English. Capello signed a 4 1/2-year contract through the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championships and will begin work Jan. 7, the FA said. His contract is worth a reported $12.2 million a year. Capello was in Italy on Friday and will be introduced at a news conference in London on Monday.

Wake Forest Are Your National Champions!

It was a bloody Sunday battle, but after 90 minutes of action at the SAS Soccer Park the Wake Forest men's soccer team walked away with their first ever National Championship with a 2-1 win over Ohio State.

Zack Schilawksi, who grew up five minutes from the 2007 College Cup site, scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute by taking a cross from Marcus Tracy and nailed the center shot from 10 yards out. Tracy had the tying goal in the 66th minute, finishing a run from sophomore Cody Arnoux.

Deacons Advance to NCAA Soccer Final

(AP) -- Marcus Tracy led Wake Forest to the championship game in the NCAA Men's College Cup, scoring twice in the second half of the Demon Deacons' 2-0 semifinal victory Friday night over ACC rival Virginia Tech. The Demon Deacons (21-2-2) will play for the national title Sunday against Ohio State, a 1-0 winner over Massachusetts in the second semifinal.

In the second game, Eric Edwards scored off a rebound in the 53rd minute to lead the Big Ten champion Buckeyes (16-3-5) past Massachusetts (17-7-1).

Miami Orange Bowl, Possible site for new MLS team

Major League Soccer president Mark Abbott spent Wednesday in Miami meeting with Mayor Manny Diaz and city commissioners, and said he left feeling ''very pleased'' with what he heard about plans for a 25,000-seat soccer stadium at the Orange Bowl site. The $100 million stadium would receive half of its funding from an MLS ownership group.

''I definitely think it's fair to say that this stadium proposal, if it passes, bumps Miami up on the expansion list,'' Abbott said Thursday. ``We have been talking with Mayor Diaz for some time about getting funding for a stadium in Miami, but the last few weeks things have really come into focus. We believe the funding package is a compelling one.''

Miami would not get an MLS team before 2010, Abbott said. Seattle is getting a team in 2009, and one other market likely would get a team ahead of Miami.

Seattle Tops 10,000 Season-Tickets

One month after the announcement that Major League Soccer would expand to Seattle, the yet-unnamed club reached another milestone.

More than 15 months from opening its inaugural season, Seattle MLS has surpassed 10,000 season-ticket deposits.

The club sold more than 3,000 season-ticket memberships within the first 24 hours at $50 per seat. Since then, sales have cooled, but remain around 100 per day. The deposits give fans the opportunity to have a place in line to select seats when season tickets for the 2009 season become available for purchase. No price has been set on the season tickets.

"The response from the local community continues to energize and strengthen our commitment to create a team and fan experience unlike any other," majority owner Joe Roth said.

The team is three months from selecting a name and colors and several more beyond that from signing players and coaches.

Also, two of Roth's recent movies, "The Great Debaters" and "Across the Universe," were nominated for Golden Globes.

This is Crazy! New Stadium Plans for KC!

If they build it, they will come. At least they hope. For a team that avg. under 12,000 seats sold per game. It seems KC's stadium plan passes city council.

The $949 million project calls for the closed Bannister Mall and the surrounding Benjamin Plaza shopping center to be replaced by the stadium, a 12-field tournament-style soccer complex, a 250-room hotel, up to 1.1 million square feet of retail space and up to 1.7 million square feet of office space in the 467-acre area. The plan also calls for creating a $10 million neighborhood benefit district, with $2 million advanced up front by the developer, which would provide grants, loans and other assistance for commercial and residential property owners near the development site.

Veron Turns Down DC?

LA PLATA, Argentina (Ticker) - Juan Sebastian Veron has performed a U-turn on a reported deal to join DC United, opting instead to remain in Argentina.

The Estudiantes midfielder had looked set to head north to Major League Soccer, but seemingly had a change of heart after speaking with his team-mates.

"I'm staying because of the fans and my team-mates. The truth is that I couldn't say goodbye," said the 32-year-old, who had spells with Parma, Lazio, Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan in Europe.

"My team-mates' request for me to stay was very important. And I couldn't ignore the fans' affection. It is impossible not to be touched when you are an Estudiantes fan," Veron added on Ole.com.

The veteran, who collected a Serie A title with Lazio, admitted he had been very tempted by the offer to join MLS.

"It was a lot of money; maybe I would advise a kid to go," he said. "But in a situation like mine it is better to live for the things that give you happiness."

Key among Veron's reasons to stay was Estudiantes' qualification for the Copa Libertadores.

"My teammates told me: 'We fought for a year to play in the Copa Libertadores and we have to stay together'," he said
